The Eighth in the series

I finished the eighth portrait in my hide-away series last night, and put it on eBay today. I really like this one, a cat laying down in a little girl's doll house. My husband and my son said it looks cartoonish; the playhouse is supposed to look that way, but I don't think the cat does. I am enjoying doing a series, it's the first time I've ever done one. Sometimes it's kind of hard to figure out what to do next, though, that is in keeping with the theme. I like being able to paint just whatever I want, or what strikes my fancy, but doing a series like this one means I have to stick with a certain type of portrait. It is interesting though, but once I finish this series, I probably won't do another one for a while. Well, I better get to the ninth; I have to think about what I want to portray in the next of the twelve in this series.

Been a While...

Sorry I haven't kept up with my blog. As you know, I was working on quite a bit of wildlife art, in the hopes of being accepted into the Southeaster Wildlife Expo. I was not accepted. The work I submitted was good, or at least I thought it was good; however, I didn't send good, quality jpg's as I should have; I had a hard time writing them to disk, and ended up taking crappy photos to Wally world to have a CD made. That and the fact that I am a "local" artist probably killed it. I have all the equipment to get quality photos downloaded to CD now. I will not make the same mistake again, and yes, I will try again next year. I don't have to pay an additional jurying fee, it is a one time deal, so that's good. But being denied really got me down, and I haven't created much wildlife art since. Instead I have been creating little 5 x 7 portraits of cats and kittens to sell on eBay. So far I have sold 3 out of 7, but someone is watching another, so maybe it will sell. I decided to do a series, which is called the "Hide away" series, where all of the cats/kittens are in, under, or behind things. They start out at $1.99 each, and that's all I've gotten for one so far. If you are interested in checking them out, type in AMP under search and see them. I'm pretty sure I'm the only AMP out there, but you might get some funky electrical stuff in your search! I'll post a few here later so you can check them out! And if you would like to see what other wildlife art I've done, see my website, www.putmanartstudios.com.
